AgriDex enables farmland and agricultural goods to be traded on-chain using Solana’s low-fee, high-speed infrastructure $AGRI is one of the few tokens linked to agriculture within the Solana RWA ecosystem, alongside Baxus and Ondo AgriDex processes cross-border asset transfers with 0.15 percent transaction fees and smart contract-based ownership tracking AgriDex ($AGRI), a Solana-based project, has been listed as one of the few platforms focused on real-world asset (RWA) tokenization in the agricultural sector. With the global agriculture industry valued at $2.7 trillion, AgriDex aims to bring this traditionally opaque and inefficient market on-chain. Solana Foundation’s Nick Ducoff Highlights $AGRI as a Key Project Nick Ducoff, Head of Institutional Growth at the Solana Foundation, recently listed $AGRI along with Baxus and Ondo Finance as real-world asset (RWA) projects active in the Solana ecosystem. During a public event, he referred to these teams as participants in Solana’s ongoing RWA development efforts. AgriDex, the platform behind $AGRI, handles on-chain transactions involving farmland and agricultural goods. It uses Solana’s fast and low-cost network to process these trades. So far, AgriDex has completed several transactions, including a $165,000 farmland sale in Zambia and the shipment of wine and olive oil from South Africa to London. Top Analyst Sees Standout Potential in $AGRI Crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe also shared his views on $AGRI, describing it as a standout among RWA projects. He emphasized the agricultural sector’s structural inefficiencies and highlighted the need for blockchain-based solutions that improve transparency and access to capital. According to van de Poppe, AgriDex’s approach allows global investors to allocate funds across regions and gain yield from real-world agricultural production. He noted that while $AGRI remains a micro-cap, its active development and sector-specific focus make it a project worth watching. Agriculture Enters Blockchain Through AgriDex AgriDex uses Solana blockchain to tokenize agricultural assets such as farmland and export goods into digital tokens. Through its platform, users can buy and sell fractional ownership of these assets. This approach allows multiple parties to hold a stake in the same agricultural property or commodity without relying on traditional brokers or centralized clearing systems. In typical agriculture markets, access to funding and cross-border participation is often limited. Middlemen, banking delays, and legal complexities make trade slow and expensive. AgriDex addresses these issues by using smart contracts to automate transactions and ownership transfers. As a result, farmers and traders can connect directly with buyers or investors. The platform operates on the Solana blockchain, which supports faster transactions and low network fees. Settlement times drop from several days to a few seconds, depending on network activity. According to AgriDex, the fee for a full transaction on its platform is as low as 0.15%, compared to 3% to 6% for international wire transfers or brokered deals. In addition, Solana’s infrastructure enables transparent and real-time tracking of asset ownership. This function helps reduce counterparty risk, which is a persistent issue in agriculture trade. Both buyers and sellers can see the transaction status and asset history directly on-chain, without needing third-party validation. Solana’s RWA Push Includes $AGRI, Baxus, and Ondo AgriDex works within the Solana ecosystem alongside other real-world asset (RWA) projects like Baxus and Ondo Finance. Baxus focuses on tokenizing and trading wines & spirits, while Ondo Finance develops blockchain-based financial products backed by U.S. Treasuries. These platforms operate in different sectors, but all use Solana’s infrastructure to carry out on-chain transactions. Agriculture remains one of the less represented sectors in blockchain-based asset tokenization so far. AgriDex is working to change that and make agricultural asset transfers smoother and more accessible, operating alongside other Solana-based RWA platforms, each focusing on different asset categories.
