XRP rallied 400% after SEC case, but HBAR’s smaller cap could drive higher gains in 2025 Ripple’s RLUSD launch contrasts Hedera’s real-world asset tokenization roadmap Analysts say made-in-USA coins XRP and HBAR show diverging momentum for this year Lately, American-made cryptocurrencies have been grabbing a lot of attention. Together, these coins are worth around $488 billion. But with so many options, it’s tough to decide where to put your money. Analyst AltcoinBuzz recently broke down these two, most talked-about, U.S. projects — XRP and Hedera (HBAR). XRP’s Strong Year XRP had an incredible run in the last few months. Its price jumped 400%, making it one of the top performers in the market. The big growth for XRP came in November through December; that’s when Donald Trump won the US elections, and many believed Ripple’s long-running case litigation with the SEC would finally wrap up. And it did. Both events have since pushed XRP’s price even higher. Since the start of 2025, though, XRP’s growth has slowed a bit. It’s climbed from $2.32 to $2.62 — about a 10% gain in a few months. At the time of writing, XRP is trading at $2.51. Hedera’s Steady Climb Hedera’s HBAR token didn’t soar quite as high but still did well, rising 91% over the past year. Like XRP, most of its gains happened late last year. So far in 2025, it’s been moving between $0.15 and $0.37. At the moment, it’s around $0.20, down from about $0.29 at the start of the year. Related: Here’s the Odds of XRP Surpassing $3.50 by End of May, According to Polymarket Ripple and Hedera’s Next Moves Ripple recently bought a crypto trading firm called Hidden Road. It also tried to buy Circle — the company behind the USDC stablecoin — but that didn’t go through. Ripple also launched its own stablecoin, RLUSD. Meanwhile, Hedera is working on a system to tokenize real-world assets like stocks and property. The platform will follow government rules, which could make it popular with big financial firms. It’s expected to launch soon. Which Looks Better for 2025? Both XRP and Hedera are solid projects, but the analyst said that Hedera seems to have a slight edge this year. Ripple’s big boost came after its SEC case wrapped up, and unless another big event happens, its growth might slow down. Related: What’s Driving XRP’s 22% Weekly Surge as It Overtakes USDT for Third Place? Meanwhile, Hedera has fresh projects lined up, like its real-world asset platform, and with a smaller market cap, it has more room to grow — and in crypto, smaller coins often jump higher when the market rallies.
